Discover Something New

MAQ's educational programme is at the heart of the retreat.

Each year, the Board selects a varied programme of workshops led by experienced instructors, giving attendees the opportunity to explore different styles, techniques and approaches to quilting.

Past classes have included foundation paper piecing, long-arm quilting, fabric dyeing, appliqué, hand sewing and quilting, fabric painting, collage, English paper piecing and much more.

Whether you want to refine a familiar technique or try something completely outside your comfort zone, MAQ is the perfect place to learn.

Learn From Inspiring Instructors

Every year, MAQ welcomes a talented group of quilting instructors who bring their expertise, creativity and enthusiasm to the retreat.

Our instructors offer hands-on guidance throughout their workshops, helping attendees develop their skills, overcome challenges and leave with new ideas and techniques to continue exploring at home.

A Weekend at Gettysburg College

The MAQ Educational Retreat takes place on the campus of Gettysburg College in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

The campus includes classrooms, dining facilities, accommodation and parking, with a mixture of dorm-style and motel-style housing available to MAQ attendees.

STAY ON CAMPUS

  • DORM-STYLE HOUSING

Stay close to the heart of the retreat in apartment-style dorm accommodation.

Dorms feature individual bedrooms connected to shared living, kitchen and bathroom areas, making them particularly good for groups — although individual attendees are also welcome.

Good for: Groups, solo attendees and those wanting to stay closer to retreat facilities.

  • MOTEL-STYLE HOUSING

For attendees who prefer greater privacy, a limited number of motel-style rooms are available.

These offer a bedroom, private bathroom, desk, microwave and small refrigerator. Availability is limited and rooms are allocated according to registration.

Good for: Individuals or pairs looking for more private accommodation.

The distinction is taken directly from their registration information. One particularly useful thing to retain is that motel-style accommodation is farther from the classrooms, dining and CUB ballroom, so attendees with limited mobility may prefer dorm accommodation.

GOOD TO KNOW
Campus accommodation does not include linens, towels or blankets, so remember to bring everything you'll need to make your stay comfortable.
