More Than a Quilting Retreat
The Mid-Appalachian Quilters Annual Educational Retreat brings together quilters for three inspiring days of learning, creativity and community.
Led by expert instructors, our workshops give attendees the opportunity to develop existing skills, experiment with new techniques and discover fresh creative possibilities.
But MAQ is about much more than what happens in the classroom. It's about spending time with people who share your passion, exchanging ideas, being inspired by one another and forming friendships that continue long after the final stitch of the weekend.
Many attendees come to MAQ on their own. They rarely leave feeling that way.

The 2026 Mid-Appalachian Quilters Retreat will be held June 5–7, 2026, with attendees able to arrive on Thursday, June 4 after 3:00 PM.

The MAQ Retreat is held on the campus of Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

MAQ offers a wide variety of classes designed to give quilters the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques. Past classes have included foundation paper piecing, long-arm quilting, fabric dyeing, appliqué, hand sewing and quilting, fabric painting, collage, English paper piecing and much more.

Attendees can choose from dorm-style or motel-style accommodation on the Gettysburg College campus. Dorms feature individual bedrooms with shared living, kitchen and bathroom areas, while motel-style rooms offer more private accommodation. Please note that linens, towels and blankets are not provided.
